How broadcasters keep New Year's Eve livestreams and live shots from a boat online by bonding cellular and satellite. Real setups and results.

From the field: how the world went live on bonded cellular

It started in healthcare. When WABC News in New York saw West Networks transmitting diagnostic-quality medical images in real time from mobile units over bonded cellular, they asked a simple question: could the same technology run their news vans? Better video, multi-carrier redundancy, live from any location — even during a disaster when single networks fail. West Networks outfitted the entire fleet, and it worked.

WABC introduced NBC Sports, and NBC Sports opened a world that needed exactly this: reliable, broadcast-quality transmission from places never designed to support it. That lineage now includes the Golf Channel, dozens of regional sports broadcasters, Formula 1, the WPGA Tour, T-Mobile for Business, and the Olympic Games in Paris — going live from a golf course in Scotland, a race track in Monaco, or a stadium in Paris without wondering whether the local network can handle the load. None of it was planned. It was earned, one solved problem at a time.

Two representative deployments. Both are illustrative composites of real-world deployment patterns — label shown on-site under each title.
